Lily thinks about her conversation with Brad. When she gets home, Detective Kimball comes to speak with her. Detective Kimball asks Lily what she knows about Ted Severson, and Lily tells him that she went to school with Miranda. Detective Kimball tells her that he is a fan of her father’s novels. Lily asks him if he knows about David’s accident in England, and he says that he does and that he is sorry. Detective Kimball tells Lily about Ted’s parking ticket by Winslow College, but Lily tells him that she did not see Ted. Detective Kimball tells her that they discovered that she was on the same flight as Ted from London to Boston. Lily tells him that she talked with a man during the flight, but that she did not realize that it was Ted at the time. As Detective Kimball leaves, he takes a key out of his pocket and tells her that they found it with Ted’s belongings. The key does not work on her door, and Detective Kimball leaves, telling Lily to call him if she thinks of anything else. As Lily goes back inside, she hears her telephone ring twice and then stop.
