Pip approaches the house on Gravesend Road and calls the police from her car, explaining that officers need to be dispatched to the address because she believes Elliot Ward kidnapped Andie Bell five years prior and has been keeping her in this house ever since.
Mr. Ward answers the door, and Pip informs him that the police will be there shortly, so he has limited time to explain what happened to Andie and Sal. Mr. Ward confirms that Andie is alive and in the house. He confesses that he began secretly seeing Andie in late February. Andie convinced him to meet her at the Ivy House Inn, and the two slept together. Mr. Ward then tried to break it off with Andie, but she threatened to turn him in and left a naked picture of herself in his classroom to scare him.
Mr. Ward tells Pip that Andie showed up at his place the Friday she disappeared and was belligerent. He claims he was just trying to restrain her, but Andie fell and hit her head on Mr. Ward’s desk. She was still conscious but was confused, and when he left to grab a first-aid kit, Andie vanished.
